  What I do

2024 started pretty slowly compared to any other year experienced.

Having said that, “The Apprentice – You’re Fired! “ was a steady series through to April, and a very successful one at that.

Interspersed with quite a few weeks of “The One Show”, which continues til end of May. Good to see Live music is back on the menu at The One Show!

“The World According to Kaleb”, a recording of his Live tour, took place in Cheltenham, in April, for Amazon in Dolby Atmos, brilliantly facilitated by EMG and Terry Tew.

The best gig of the year though occurred on April 28th, when BAFTA decided to award the Sound Team responsible for HM King Charles and Queen Camilla Coronation, the BAFTA in the Sound:Factual division. I was named and so humbly accepted the award with the 5 other Sound Supervisors for the whole Sound Team. A special evening and one where I was not responsible for collecting the audio – just creating some of it!

The  Wimbledon Tennis Tournament is the next large project in June, and then straight to the Paris Olympics for the BBC.

Off to the Edinburgh Fringe in late August, but not to work, instead to watch my 17 year old son in a play!

“Pointless” and “Pointless Celebrities” starts in September, and “COP 29” is in November, this year in Azerbaijan.

Also booked in is another series of the “Comedy Central Live” series of stand up shows, and more One Shows.

2025 began with a trip to DAVOS for the Economic Forum for Hi Impact – a fabulous week, and very informing!

Eastenders and The One Show followed, and then in February, Eastenders 40th Anniversary LIVE episode was transmitted. It was a flawless triumph for the actors and all the technical discilplines.

From a sound point of view, my inexperienced co mixer, Alex Krystn, was superb and the whole 20 crew displayed the highest example of professionalism. My two Deputy sound supervisors who played in the live backgrounds and spot fx were exemplary – a very difficult job managed brilliantly.

Now on to a Mary Berry 90th Birthday celebration special, and on into Spring!
